New Menu, Telly-Baking & Ospreys

It is agessince we changed our menu. The dishes of course change constantly but the basic format of our evening offer has remained the same for many years. From October 1st we have introduced a new dinner menu which concentrates the kitchen’s efforts on a fixed price offer (£65 plus service) with around 5 choices for each course. In addition we still offer our 7 course tasting menu at £72 and ‘Gourmet Corner’ for a few dishes which involve luxury ingredients. We think that for most of our local and resident diners the new format will provide more choice and good value.

Hambleton Bakery has recently been involved in filming a TV show to be screened later in the year. The show is aiming to find the ‘best bakery’ in the UK by providing fiendish challenges to all of us and knocking out the weakest. Of course, we are sworn to secrecy until nearer to the screening date but thought you might be amused by a picture of us selling our wares on Leadenhall Market. We will publicise screening details as soon as we are allowed.

Lastly a bulletin from Rutland Water. On June 21st, with a group of gastroornithologists we cruised Rutland Water in search of the elusive osprey. Once again we turned for home without a satisfactory sighting consoled by Aaron’s food and the miraculous absence of rain. A cry rang out from the top mast “Osprey to Port”. The bird flapped slowly past clutching a family supper in histalons!  Our next Osprey cruise is planned for June 2013
