Hambleton hall is a wonderful experience you will never forget. But, don’t just take our word for it. Please find our reviews here.
“It is a beautiful setting with a wonderful facility and fabulous food. None of those things compare to the quality of the staff. It is our favourite place in England. We save it for our last stop and look forward to it the entire trip.”

“We had never been to this part of England and it is absolutely beautiful. It was helped, to be fair, by unseasonably wonderful weather. The food was sensational but best of all was the service throughout our stay. Many hotels are noticeably cutting back on staffing levels – and hence service – but no sign of that at Hambleton Hall. The view from our room was wonderful, a request for more pillows promptly dealt with. No dressing table in the room was an oddity but we managed.”

“We’ve just returned from Hambleton Hall, the setting for our wedding lunch and short break. What can we say? You gave us the best day ever. From the moment we arrived with our guests everything was just perfect. Champagne on the terrace, followed by the superb meal in The Study, couldn’t have been more magical. Been coming to Hambleton for over twenty years and the standard never falters; a special mention to all the staff – you are the best. All our party loved every minute! Our subsequent stay with you was, as always, like visiting a dear and stylish friend. Thank you so much for making our occasion really special. We will be back. Judy and Duncan x”

“The hotel is in a beautiful setting with rooms and gardens overlooking Rutland Water. From the moment we arrived the staff were attentive and helpful Our bedroom was very comfortable, it looked out over Rutland Water so it was really relaxing. As it was a special occasion the champagne and bouquet of flowers ordered were waiting for us in our room on our arrival. The rooms and the garden are very well looked after. Dinner was excellent with an interesting menu. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and look forward to returning.”

“A lunch for 2 as a birthday treat and what a great experience. A horrible June day with high winds and driving rain but this little oasis of foodie heaven was a perfect sanctuary. Logs fires showed the management had thought ahead and lovely smiling staff looked after our every request. The maitre d’ was a charming host the little touches that make this such a great restaurant were everywhere from flowers to amuse bouche to homemade breads.Stunning food, perfect portions and superb wine meant this was a very special meal.”

“The hotel overlooks Rutland Water, as you walk into the garden there is a beautiful and well tended terrace garden, looked after by three talented gardeners, steps lead down to the fountain and flower beds, and then down again with yet more fabulous views. Lunch was delicious accompanied by a choice of red or white wine, then a scrumptious lemon tart followed by some tasty petit fois, then tea or coffee. The waiters were unobtrusive and all the staff were very polite and helpful. Definitely a treat, and top end prices, but worth it for very special occasions.”

“Stayed here after enjoying the exquisite tasting menu as a Christmas night out with friends. This hotel oozes class. They treated us like royalty and made us feel very special without it being uncomfortable. Cannot recommend enough.”

“From check-in to check-out, service was fabulous. Even before I had arrived, staff was most attentive to my need for a stairless stay, and arranged a delightful room with lift access. Amenities were plentiful, and dinner was splendid. Very interesting menu, with beautifully prepared and presented food that was delicious. Breakfast was equally lovely, with an excess of choices and absolutely freshly squeezed orange juice. I was also pleased to get an enormous cafetiere of coffee. On the second night of my stay I had dinner nearby in a charming gastropub, but returned to the hotel for an after-dinner drink. This I had in one of the public rooms, seated next to a crackling fire in a comfy armchair. Another evening with excellent service from the staff. Overall, I felt the experience was well worth the price and I would happily return.”

“Superb from start to finish and on all fronts. Happy staff pleased to be of service. Impressive decor, comfort and cleanliness throughout; and dinners to die for, cooked to perfection, beautifully plated and perfectly presented. Large lounge with cosy clusters of seats and the most incredible bunch of lilies I have ever seen.
Then there are the gardens obviously tended with a lot of loving care -they put a lot of National Trust ones to shame. And the views across Rutland Water which inspire at all times of day. I look forward to a return visit…”

“Having discovered this hotel last year we have just revisited it to celebrate my birthday. We were given a lovely room with wonderful views over the gardens and lake. Dinner in the restaurant was fantastic – here you have a chef who has not only mastered technique and process in his cooking but has a great palate with amazing combinations of flavours and textures. But still the best thing about this hotel is the staff who provide such excellent service in such a friendly way – they obviously care, both about the tasks they carry out and the wish to make guests feel contented. Whoever selects and trains their staff is doing an excellent job. Without doubt my favourite UK hotel at this time.”

“We had an overnight stay at Hambleton Hall having been intending to visit for many years. It fully met our expectations, from the initial welcome and reception service, the quality of the room with a superb view across Rutland Water, the towels, sheets etc were all of a very high standard – so often what you get is poorer than you are used to at home. The rooms don’t have a kettle but when we asked, the staff could not have been more helpful bringing one and coffee / tea all complimentary. The lounge and the bar are well furnished and welcoming with logs fires roaring in both. When I asked for a particular drink which was not in the bar, the head barman managed to obtain it very quickly, showing that nothing is too much trouble. We had a superb evening meal which lived upto expectations, including grouse and partridge both superbly cooked and presented. The Sommelier clearly knows his wine and provided excellent advice re the right pairings. The breakfast was equally good, with choices such as smoked haddock and kippers on offer alongside the more traditional ones. It is not a cheap option, but for a special treat sets a great standard.”

“I think the nicest hotel we have stayed in with wonderful scenery and utterly peaceful. The room was perfect and the shortbread biscuits divine. Especially enjoyable was the champagne surprise from my sister Deb. The whole stay was made by the service of the staff and the wonderful food, especially the cheese board as good as I remember from 30 years ago!! Hope to return a bit quicker next time!! Thank you to everyone who ensured we had a lovely stay.”

“My husband and I have been visiting Hambleton Hall for well over 25 years and have always enjoyed their hospitality and food. This visit for dinner was quite outstanding, the food was quite the best we have ever eaten there. The love and care that goes into the preparation, the careful seasoning and the quality of the food is amazing. Aaron, the chef certainly has a passion for food, he keeps coming up with amazing ideas. There were four of us eating and we were all equally impressed.”

“My husband and I had been given a generous voucher as a gift to use at Hambleton Hall in Christmas 2016. We both agreed we would certainly use the gift towards celebrating our Coral Wedding anniversary in December 2017. On arrival we were both greeted by exceptional staff who congratulated us on our anniversary. We both knew then we had chosen the perfect place for our celebration. We were guided to take a seat beside a roaring fire which was very welcome on a very cold evening where we enjoyed cocktails and made our choices from the personally named menus. We both chose the Tasting Menu and my husband chose a magnificent bottle of red wine, very expensive but we thought we were worth it. The restaurant food was exceptional and the waiting staff extremely knowledgeable, attentive but very discreet allowing us to enjoy each course and we were certainly not rushed. We enjoyed coffee in the lounge where we felt completely relaxed and content with ourselves. A most enjoyable evening and we came away wondering why this hotel has not yet received two Michelin stars. We have have dined at many Michelin two star restaurants and Hambleton Hall deserves this accolade too.”
