Wine at Hambleton Hall

Over the years our Wine list has won a number of awards despite a policy of avoiding the grandest and most expensive wines which in some restaurants are regarded as essential “window dressing”

Our policy is to seek out delicious wines, often from smaller wineries, in the hope that we might surprise you with something special that you have not tasted before.

Head sommelier Patrick Cooper trained with us some 15 years ago before heading up the wine service at Adam Wishart and Champany Inn in his native Scotland. Together with his assistant Tara Drewry he is responsible for wine service and for management of our cellar.

The sourcing of new wines is a joint enterprise headed by owner Tim Hart.

In recognition of the fact that many guests will not have the patience or enthusiasm to read through a long wine list, we have for some years produced a list of “Wines of the Moment” ten whites, ten reds and a Rosé at the lower end of the price spectrum.

PATRICK

Wine is my true passion. My greatest enjoyment is to spend time with the chefs finding the perfect food and wine combinations which I can then recommend to our diners.

010 Hambleton Hall 23rd May

“Arriving at Hambleton to the charming porch full of Le Chameau wellies felt simply wonderful. They welcome you in, the Hall gives you this sort of ‘welcome back you rascal’ hug and each time I see those dramatic scenes covering the walls I have to hold back tears…After going to several wine tastings before, I can’t say I really knew what Dominique had in store for us either. Whether by popularity or purpose, Sommelier Dominique Baduel had created a much more intimate wine tasting…Dominique took us on a journey through the Montalcino region…his delivery was perfect, he was informative and playful with no hint of being patronising, he almost acted as if he was discovering these wonderful wines with us.“
