Embracing British Sporting Heritage at Hambleton Hall
With the Olympics, Wimbledon and other sporting events on the horizon and if you enjoy your sport, there are plenty of outdoor and sporting pursuits that celebrate the essence of British sporting past and present, available at Hambleton Hall or on our doorstep for guests to experience and enjoy.
For those who enjoy the water, fine sailing can be found on Rutland Water with hire available from Rutland Watersports Centre. Rowers, kayakers, paddleboarders and canoers’ are also catered for, and windsurfing tuition for the more adventurous.
For keen cyclists Hambleton is ideally situated to enjoy the fabulous cycle route around Rutland Water – 23 miles of traffic free cycling, you will pass through villages, woodland and enjoy spectacular views. There are also plenty of other places to visit by bike such as Hambleton Bakery Café near to the pretty village of Exton.
We have 2 electric bikes and 3 mountain bikes for hire (bike helmets are also available) and please do let us know if you would like a map or suggestions on where to stop on route.

Electric Bikes – half day – £40
8.30am to 1.00pm or 1.30pm to 6.00pm
Electric Bikes – full day – £50
Mountain Bikes – full or half day – £20
For those who prefer to see things on foot, the same cycle tracks are also a walkers’ and runner’s paradise with stunning scenery everywhere you turn. Follow the trail along the peninsula spotting Normanton Church, before heading up Lyndon Road and back to the hotel for a well-earned rest.
What is more British than strawberries, cream and Wimbledon – when not watching the action, tennis fans can perfect their serves and volleys, taking in the scenic views at the same time from our enclosed hardcourt, working up an appetite before dining with us in our Michelin-starred restaurant.
